Renewable resources like solar, geothermal, wind, biomass, biogas and low-impact hydropower generate green power. Green power electricity is beneficial for the environment, as it generates less pollution than conventional power and produces no net increase in greenhouse gas emissions. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Macy’s stores generate more than 10 million kilowatt-hours of solar power annually, which is the similar to the amount of electricity required to power more than 1,000 American homes yearly. It is also ranked No. 19 on the EPA’s Top 20 retail list of green power purchasers.
