Energy Glider utilizes winds 1000 feet above the ground to produce electricity

It’s time to replace the traditional wind turbines with improved units that don’t require high wind speed to generate electricity. Focusing on the same, Dimitri Cherny presented the Highest Wind Energy Glider at the recent New Hampshire High Technology Council's Entrepreneur Forum. The 10-foot by 30-foot, kite-like glider produces up to 100,000 kWh of renewable energy that is stored in the grid to be used later to run a farm or a manufacturing plant.

The portable unit is easy to assemble, deploy or move on site. The energy glider is tethered to a 30-foot pedestal. Moving with the gust of wind, the glider can fly up to 1,200 feet and it communicates to the power trailer (contains a capstan, motor reel and flywheel connected to a generator) via RF radio frequency. It goes on to produce 30 kWh in only 7-knot winds and that is quite impressive, to say the least. As of now, Highest Wind doesn’t reveal anything on the suggested price. Anyhow, we’ll keep you informed once we get the slightest hint.
