You are not new to hybrid cars and motorcycles. Taking this green revolution into cycles is something you wouldn’t have seen till date. Designer Michael Scholey is adding spice into cycles by making them hybrid. Dubbed the ‘Emcycle’, this one-of-a-kind mode of transport comes equipped with a roof and Velcro-attached side panels. Designed especially to overcome the limitation of harsh weather, it helps you cocoon yourself and pedal or take electrical assistance to get you to your destination.

The single person commuter vehicle incorporates features like LED head and tail lamps, a seatbelt and airbags for safety, child seat, radio and iPod holder with enough space to store 6 shopping bags. The foam filled tires help dealing with punctures. The Emcycle is 24” wide X 73” tall X 80” long and its electric mode makes it possible to travel up to speeds of 40mph with a 40-mile range. The concept is expected to go into production by 2011 in time for the London Olympics. The Emcycle will carry a price tag between $2,500 to $4,500.
