Berlin energy supplier Lekker Energie and battery company DBM Energy’s collaborative effort has give new heights to green urban transport. The companies electrified an Audi A2 and set a new world distance record for an everyday vehicle by completing the 600-kilometer journey from Munich in southern Germany to Berlin on a single charge. The electric coupe is powered by lithium metal polymer (LMP) cells, which are claimed to be lighter and more powerful than traditional cells and operate with an efficiency of 97 percent.

The run that was conducted at night took just seven hours to cover the 372-mile stretch without recharging the batteries. The cute yellow and purple colored car ran at an average speed of 55 miles per hour. The new record holders claim that at the end of the journey, the compact and efficient batteries were still left with 18 percent of the pack’s 115 kWh. Isn’t that hard to believe?
