EcoStudio: Arkit’s prefabricated house for sustainable living

A high quality building and an exemplar of sustainable design will soon be heating the Melbourne’s Annual State of Design Festival. Dubbed the “EcoStudio”, the full-scale prefabricated house is being constructed by Australian architecture studio Arkit. Built using the sustainable prefabricated ARKit system, the 50sqm house will include green features like green roofs, built-in insulation, optimum environmental performance, water-saving technologies and full life cycle analysis.

Being developed in collaboration with GHD, the EcoStudio comprises of a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living space and an adaptable services hub. Green roofs and feature multi compartmental wall panels that provide insulation and rigidity. Materials like Western Red Cedar and Hoop Pine not only take sustainability to another level, but also add to the aesthetics.
