In the future, when living places won’t be able to cope with the extreme climatic conditions and impending power crunch, the Living Buildings will definitely hold the key to a sustainable future. The Omega Center for Sustainable Living, the first Living Building, has already provided us a cue on how these structures will supplement ecotecture. They will go on to define the highest measure of sustainability attainable in a built environment.

Certain theoretical requirements demand solution, research and practical tools to realize a green conceptual framework. Accordingly, Living Buildings will go on to transform concrete structures into green living spaces basing them on the underwritten prerequisites:

1) Green surrounding region is of foremost importance since it can circumscribe a livable space.

2) The building should be energy-efficient and should utilize renewable energy such as solar and wind power.

3) Waste water management should be there to avoid storm-water runoff. Rainwater harvesting and porous pavements around the building are some of the methods to do this.

4) Cost-efficiency and aesthetic beauty is highly recommended.
