For the last 20 years, Japanese automaker Takeoka Jidosha Kogei has been making handmade electric cars named the Eco Beagle. The established two-seater EV can go cruising at a maximum speed of 37 mph, and also does 45 miles on a single charge. That is impressive for a car measuring less than 10 feet and weighing between 660 and 1,600 pounds.

It runs on a lithium-ion battery and can be charged from a conventional wall socket. As part of its production practices (won’t say "policies"), Takeoka Jidosha Kogei makes only 100 vehicles a year. So, if you are planning to own one, you need to hurry, as only six are available at a suggested price of $9,600 a pop.
