Eco Art: Spectacular green art for your walls

Copper and glass is a couple now. Confused, then read ahead. Making incredible designs to be hung on your wall are glass and copper. After finely grounding the glass it is switched onto a copper plate. The whole set up is placed inside an undersized electric kiln after this. For making pictures/drawings, copper wires are used after they get embedded into the first coat of the glass, filling them with a diverse shade.

The artist

Jenn Bell studied jewelry design at Kutztown University. As a child Jenn Bell wanted to become a fashion designer. But when she turned from eight to twelve her interest switched towards becoming an architect. She used to craft model cars with her dad, work on the interiors and color sparkplugs in different hues.

The inspiration

Inspired by the beauty of flowers, Jenn thought of upcycling waste metal and glass to give life to stunning wall art. After completing her course in jewelry designing, Jenn started making pendants and necklaces out of tiles, of course small ones. But sooner or later she realized such deigns if wedged on a wall will make it look all the more beautiful. So, she decided to craft Handmade Enamel Designs which would liven up the walls further.

The material

Glass and copper rule her creations. Jenn formed eye appealing art pieces by using materials glass, copper, tweezers, dental tools, electric kiln and colored glass paste.

The artwork

These amazing pieces of art give second life to found materials like glass and copper using things like tweezers, dental tools, electric kiln and colored glass paste. After grounding glass finely, it is transferred on a copper plate which is then positioned carefully in an electric kiln (small in size). The copper wires submerge into the first layer of the glass. Because of this they get a different color and are used for drawings.

To place the wires exactly at a place where a person desires tweezers are brought into use. Dental tools help packing the illustration with a colorful glass paste. While transferring the enamel on copper (by using pliers), make sure you always wear a mask for added protection.

Green aspects

Jenn Bell loves the nature and so does her quirky artwork which is eco-friendly. They are handmade, so eliminates the use of harmful manufacturing processes. All the materials used in her creations do nothing to pollute the environment further. Such conscious creations have always been appreciated and having one at your place is a step ahead to protect this beautiful world.
