Carving one-of-its-kind sculptures from wood, steel, concrete, etc. is Greg, a qualified graphic designer from Colorado Academy of Art. Converting everyday items into incredible organic figures, his work has a hint of his subconscious mechanistic state. His sculptures are made by upcycling found objects like vacuum cleaners, mixers steel, machine parts, glass, wood etc.

The artist
Greg Brotherton from San Diego, CA has carved a niche for himself as a designer, illustrator, sculptor and CG animator. Having created a flourishing career, Greg has been featured in international art magazines for his uniqueness. HE was the featured artist at the Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) Conference in Monterey, California, in the year 2007. Having exhibited his work all through the USA, he has received international appreciation as well. His passion for design has made him one of the most hunted man from feature film animation to product design.
The inspiration
Like any other boy, as a child Greg used to disassemble anything that came his way with a screw. Taking birth at the age of five was his interest in mechanical and by the time he turned twelve he could be seen mining his backyard with homemade explosives (Please don’t try this at home). Slipping out from a dystopian lens are his art forms, revolving around escape and discovery themes. Surfacing from Kafkaesque imagery, he has always been deeply motivated by the dystopian and political fiction of the early 20th century.
The material
Converting everyday items like glass, wood, vacuum cleaners, mixers, steel, etc., into incredible carvings which elucidates fables and thoughts is Greg. With an eye for detailing the artist plays around mythological subjects which he unfolds through a dystopian vision of pop culture. Besides this he brings into use rational objects and hammer-formed steel.
The artwork
Crafted out of unusual objects like mixers steel, glass, wood, machine parts, vacuum cleaners, etc., these sculptures are truly inspiring. Greg, is an internationally recognized artist and has been putting his work on display from quite some time now. Building heroic icons (putting together technology with pop culture) that is exposed through a dystopian view of pop culture; his work starts off from a mechanical history that is not very orderly. Greg works with recycled materials and steel that is hammer-formed.
Green aspects
Cutting down on thrash is the recycle capacity of the material which again is available without difficulty, hence, does not affect the surroundings in a negative manner. Since, the raw material is renewable one does not require any fresh source to built objects. This saves the nature and makes the planet greener.
