Earthsmart Hub is a new office space designed by Studios architecture for Earth’ Smart. The 5-story structure has an enormous folded section that behaves as a managerial device for the several functions. Suspended to the north of this fold are the assembly spaces that bring in the feel of animated element along with activating the street exposure. Placed right below the fold to the south are the functions requiring larger flexible floor plates.

What might interest you the most is a unique walkway that enters the building from the north sidewalks and then progresses to the roof level from where it yet again droops down to ground level, eventually ending at the south horizon. In the southwest corner, a portion of an existing masonry building will be retained to serve as a mock up for the installation of environmental products. The structure has a full height atrium placed between north and south hemispheres that has pedestrian bridges.

All the program elements open onto this central heart, which also
serves as the stack effect chimney to supplement perimeter natural ventilation. To the east of the folded plane is a landscaped garden offering exterior seating for the ground floor cafe. Running through the side the flora enters the roof to cover most of it, diminishing storm water runoff and solar heat gain. Creating a magnificent view is a waterfall that drops, giving low-energy evaporative cooling to the spaces opening onto the atrium.
