The tremors created cracks in few houses of Uttarkashi, however there was no other report of damage or casualties.

The quake revived the old memories of October 1991, which had occurred in the Himalayan region. The 1991 earthquake had measured 6.1 on Richter scale, killed 1,600 people and left 2,000 injured.
