As Amway puts wraps off its state-of-the-art $380 million Amway Center in downtown Orlando, its users stand a chance to see a highly eco-friendly, sustainable structure coming to the fore. Studded with some expressly “green” features, like storm-water runoff management, energy-efficient building and lighting systems, recycled materials and sustainable elements, the massive attraction is all set to become one of the highest-performing professional arenas in the country.

The 875,000 sq. ft building includes the Gentleman Jack Terrace; the Sky Bar, a superb rooftop indoor/outdoor bar on the top of the 100ft-high Amway Tower; and the Promenade Level FanZone. The construction involved the use of locally fabricated 9,400,000 pounds of steel, and 9,000,000 LED lights in the center-hung 42ft high and 80,000lbs videoboard.

Amway Center hopes to save 800,000 gallons of water saved annually, which is 40 percent less over a comparably sized building, through a rain water collection system for irrigation and high-efficiency water flow fixtures in restrooms. In all, the center will be instrumental in 750,000 dollars' worth of annual energy savings. It further means that the eco-friendly systems will cut energy consumption by 24 percent when compared to a similar, code compliant, designed building.
