DIY off-grid wood cabin is a zero energy house

The Ryan Lingard-designed tiny impact house is meant for those willing to live without electricity. Minimally designed and furnished, you fail to spot even a single power guzzling device in the structure’s Sunset Magazine pictures. This precisely suggests the kind of archaic living this dwelling offers.

Fabricated from wood, the off grid home situated in rural Oregon has a wood stove, metal roof, cedar rain screen, reused windows, portable toilet and operable shutters. The owners have a small solar charger to charge their mobile phones while an oil lamp brightens their interiors. To top it all, the lovely little cabin cost just $10,000, enough to put a smile on your face.
