Stacey Kuznetsov, Jian Cheung, George Davis and Eric Paulos from the Carnegie Mellon University Living Environments Lab have come up with an interesting DIY installation that could help you monitor the air quality of your indoors and outdoors as well. For this purpose, they drew on some tri-colored balloon-shaped LEDs that turn green, yellow or red based on low, average and high level of pollutants around you.

The giant, glowing balloons rely on tiny air quality sensors for air quality data. Later, drawing power from a rechargeable battery, they translate this data into vibrant lights. The DIY looks damn solid and workable too! What’s your take on this?
