Australia's north-east coast is hit by a powerful tropical cyclone last weekend with a wind speed of up to 290km/h (180mph). It is the tropical Cyclone Larry hat that uncompromisingly smashed into Queensland at Innisfail, about 100km (62 miles) south of Cairns. It forced thousands to evacuate their homes.

The cyclone has left the land devastated, injuring three people so far and leaving up to 50,000 homes without power, according to officials. The storm initially was a category five, the strongest possible! But, shortly after it crossed the coastline, it was downgraded to a category four.
