Milk cartons can only be thought of as waste and are bound to be thrown away probably into a garbage can. But, if we think innovatively, there are a lot of things that these used milk cartons can be made into. Instead of piling these up as garbage, they can be made into something useful. 1. Castles made from 50,000 milk cartons
Milk cartons are always treated as a piece of waste but the students of Granadaâs architectural college do not think so. They have created a world class sculpture with what people believe is junk. The students of this college have developed the worldâs biggest sculpture created from recycled materials. The sculpture made from recycled milk cartons have made it in the Guinness Book of World Records. This sculpture is made from recycled milk cartons and has utilized almost 50,000 recycled milk cartons. The castle is huge in size and is about 28 meters in length and 14.07 meters in width. The sculpture is about 7 meters tall.
2. Recycled milk carton boats at Latvian festival
Crafts, bird feeders and other useful items are most commonly formed by recycled milk cartons, but in Lativa, these milk cartons are used for a completely new purpose. Boats are formed by using recycled milk structures only and finally these milk carton made boats are smashed against one another in the race. Vessels are made of empty milk cartons and these are powered by elbow grease. These boats must cross the finish line but they should be intact. It is not a very easy job as each carton is capable of keeping only 800 grams afloat. A large number of teams take part in this race and about 45000 milk cartons are almost used every year. The awards are given to fastest boats, the most original boats and also the funniest boat. This festival gives new creativity to use of recycled materials.
3. Muji folder
With the coming up of computer, the age old method of storing data has become almost obsolete. The computers are much faster in storing data and have an edge over the traditional methods of data storage but still some traditionalists believe that the old methods of data storage are better. A big folder is being created with the use of recycled milk cartons. The folders name has been kept as Muji. This folder has metal brackets attached to it. These metal brackets protect the corners. The bottom is also protected by these metal brackets. This is the best option available to those people who believe in minimalism. The folder’s beauty can be added, if beautiful stickers and cutouts are pasted over it. It is not very cheap but still is a perfect idea to use recycled milk carton for some purposeful thing.
4. Milk carton chair
Furniture is something that not only adds charm to your house but are also meant to give you comfort. The designer Jochen Kanzler came up with an idea that is almost unbelievable. He used recycled milk cartons for the formation of furniture. This furniture is made from milk cartons that are discarded and is fully Eco-friendly. It is perfect piece for those people who believe in art more than comfort. This furniture is not only modern but also deals with environmental issues. The designer designed this Eco-friendly chair using milk, coffee and juice cartons. He used almost 294 discarded cartons for the formation of this chair. It took almost 1 month to the designer for the formation of this chair. He gathered all the waste created during regular consumption for making this chair. The chair might not be so comfortable as a normal chair but still is a piece of art that is Eco-friendly.
5 . Milk carton table clock
Blue chopsticks gave this idea of using thrown away milk carton as a table clock. It is very easy to make. It can be made by anybody as it is very simple to be formed. This beautiful and simple paper table clock can be made by using the simple PP paper. This PP paper takes the form of a milk carton.
