Copenhagen Fashion Summit cut a swath of sustainability

The Opera House in Copenhagen saw the Nordic fashion industry supporting green fashion at the most prestigious fashion event – the Fashion Summit. Part of the NICE (Nordic Initiative Clean and Ethical) project, the event showcased innovation and sustainability. NICE is a pioneering collaboration that brings together the entire Nordic fashion industry under the common aim of incorporating sustainable values, principles, and practices into the industry and making a difference globally.

The Fashion Summit set the ramp on fire with ingenious and extraordinary designs made everything from polyester made from recycled plastic bottles to fabrics derived from byproducts of the crab industry. Winner of the fashion show, Saara Lepokorpi created designs made of the material ingeo, based on annually renewable sugar plants. A total of 20 Nordic designers got a chance to show their talent and potential through their beautiful clothes made from sustainable material.
