The Nørreport Train Station, the center of public get-together in Copenhagen, is getting ready for a green makeover. Just recently, the Danish Architects COBE joined hands with Public Architects, Grontmij Carlbro and Bartenbach LichtLabor to develop a sustainable design for the train station. Their collaborative venture was adjudged the winner of international design competition labeled as "More than just a station."

The new station will become a beacon for more than 250,000 stalkers who will see it merging with the surrounding area. The architects wanted to make sure that its sustainable design promotes non-polluting transportation. That’s the reason, maybe, they’ve devoted a respectable parking place for bicycles.

Incalculable LED lights will aid observers to spot the allotted space. The suitably aerated station will have 11 hi-tech ventilation towers to reboot the supply of fresh air to train platforms. Besides ensuring aeration, the towers will also have integrated LED lights and screens to inform passengers regarding train departures, cultural events, advertisement etc. Finally, the transparent glass pavilions will make sure that natural daylight seeps in through them.
