Canada based Motive Industries has announced the expected arrival of Canada’s first bio-composite bodied electric car dubbed Kestrel at the EV 2010 VÉ Conference and Trade Show in Vancouver this September. The four-passenger vehicle uses cannabis fiber called hemp for going as lightweight as is possible. Alberta Innovates Technology Futures (AITF) grows the fiber (under license from Health Canada and must contain less than 0.3 percent THC) for the car.

The car, designed by Darren McKeage for a program called Project Eve, will undergo prototyping and testing later this month. As the vehicle promises a zero-emission commute with performance and fuel economy, we wait for its release.
