Increasing global warming is wiping out various animal and plant species each day. And, this has triggered concerns among conservationists on how to stop the dwindling species from disappearance.
Cuing up on these lines, the federal government has planned to spend $4.5 million to take up the endangered species’ protection job, encouraging biodiversity, Environment Minister John Baird informs.
Confident Baird claimed Canada’s green plan as one of the best in the world at Montreal’s Botanical Garden. Baird said,
We’re the only one on the ice; we’re the only one with a plan. The time for debating and bickering on this is over. The time for action is now.
Though the United Nations officials endorsed Baird’s Conservative plan, critics did not keep from tearing the Conservative green plan apart. They are criticizing Canada’s $9-billion dollar strategy for it’s failing to meet greenhouse gas reduction targets, the Kyoto Protocol sets.
But, this new biodiversity funding, hopefully, will be used more meticulously to effectively protect the disappearing animal and plant species. Under the project, 100 programs will be funded as part of the Habitat Stewardship program.
