Enbridge, the North American energy leader that was listed as one of the world’s "100 Most Sustainable Corporations," has successfully completed the installation of what is being called the world’s largest operating photovoltaic facility with a collaborative effort from First Solar. The Sarnia Solar Project features about 1.3 million thin film solar panels, which are spread over 950 acres of land. The facility located in Ontario, Canada is expected to produce 120,000 MW energy annually, which is sufficient to power 12,800 homes.

The Sarnia Solar Project generates green energy using the solar panels developed by the leading solar photovoltaic manufacturer First Solar. These solar panels are designed to create the smallest carbon footprint of any PV technology available. The power generated from the plant will be sold to the Ontario Power Authority under a 20-year contract. The project will make Ontario the leader in renewable energy and will lead to a greener future.
