California is vulnerable to earthquakes. Just one major shake! And the whole of Northern California can go dry, cutting down water supply to two-thirds of it's habitants for more than a year. A major earthquake in Northern California could severely damage the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta levee system, leaving the water supply in jeopardy, a top state water official warned. The last year's collapse of a single levee went unexplained. But, the water pumping that it let shut for days and costing $100 million to repair, clearly explains the consequences, if an earthquake would attack it. According to a AP report, it is feared that an earthquake could lead to the collapse of many sections of levees, which channel Northern California Rivers on their run to San Francisco Bay. And, it will not mercy the delta too. To add to the worst of fears, it is predicted that a 6.5-magnitude earthquake could collapse 30 levees, flood 16 delta islands and damage 200 miles of additional levees. Some 3,000 homes and 85,000 acres of farmland would be flooded.
