Don’t be fooled by the cute name and the flimsy appearance. The buckypaper is stronger than steel and harder than diamond, and can revolutionize every thing from cars, airplanes, and TVs, and help in creating a future environment of hope. Buckypaper is a thin sheet, made up of an aggregate of carbon nanotubes, which is 50,000 times thinner than a human hair and is ten times lighter but 5oo times stronger than steel.

If exposed to electric charge, buckypaper can be put to use to illuminate computer and TV screens, making them lighter and energy efficient, and allowing for more uniform level of brightness. Bucky paper is having an unusual high current carrying capacity; therefore, a film made out of it could be applied to the exteriors of airplanes, allowing the lighting strike to flow around the plane and dissipate without causing any harm.

The dark side of the technology is that, it can be made at only a fraction of its potential strength, in small quantities and at a very high price. Another limitation is that the tubes clump together at odd angles, limiting the strength.
