In a bid to provide its citizens with a cleaner and emission-free traveling experience, the Brantford City added five new hybrid electric buses to its transit fleet this Tuesday. The Brantford Transit hopes that the recent inclusion will help them decrease the operating costs they presently incur on maintenance and all. Using 20 per cent less fuel than their diesel counterparts, the buses will run on city lanes with 60 per cent less emissions.

The battery-driven hybrid vehicles transfer kinetic energy to the battery during deceleration, which makes acceleration and braking more efficient than ever before. Both federal and provincial gas tax transfers and the McGuinty government’s bus replacement program assisted Brantford Transit to acquire these vehicles.
