Designer Ben van Berkel from UNStudio has come up with the draft for the New Amsterdam Plein & Pavilion that embraces dozens of green features. Flaunting sides and roofs polished in white to minimize the heat retention, huge frames and windows, a center oculus to ensure natural ventilation, aluminum grill work, and the LED covered façade, the pavilion promises to greet the Dutch and American visitors in a sustainable way.

The animated LEDs will keep on spreading the warmth of camaraderie that had prevailed between the US and the Netherlands for 400 years. As part of the NY400 celebration, the Battery Conservancy received a grant from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to complete the project.
