The creatives at Milla und Partner from Stuggart, Schmidhuber + Kaindl from Munich, and NUSSLI (Germany) GmbH from Nuremberg have come up with the German Pavilion to be showcased at the Shanghai Expo 2010. Named as balancity, the city seeks to provide a balance between renewal and preservation, urbanity and nature, work and leisure, and community and individual development. The pavilion is a city of ideas that takes visitors through the harbor to parks, Town Planning Office, and finally to the Energy Source, the city's power plant.

The Energy Source is a cone-shaped room flaunting a three-meter diameter sphere studded with thousands of LEDs. The sphere utilizes human power to generate electricity.

Divided into two groups, 600 spectators make movements and yell to set the sphere swinging. Depending on the gravity of swing, the energy generated is reflected via the colors of the sphere.

Next, there is the park (an urban space actually) to enliven the atmosphere with suspended viewing bells.

The Factory is a place full of movement where you could see visitors carried along a walkway with conveyor belts moving above their heads.

Visitors will sure like the balancity garden that has sufficient private green spaces along with a flight of stairs, a moving walkway and a giant slide for children.
