At the Winter Sculpture Series Exhibit organized by Somerville Arts Council (SAC), you could see certain pieces of art that transform the things, they are made from, into something truly appreciable. Commonly dubbed as the Union Square sculptures, the artworks created by six artists and the Somerville Arts Council disseminate the ‘themes of Themes of recycling, growth, and environmental awareness.’
RippleRun:

Artist Bevan Weissman, a Cambridge-based chemical engineer comes up with Ripplerun that is a stainless steel and glass structure, comparable to a solar canopy or a solar tree.
Recycled House:

Chong-Zi Chen Architects has designed Recycled House; a small demonstration house using recycled materials. Using wood and stainless steel and asking people to ‘fill this house frame with recycled materials’ like plastic bags, bottles, and paper, Chen wishes to enlighten masses about how recycled items can be put into housing construction.
Somerville Topiary Farm:

Putting the detritus of Christmas to a better use, Meera Deean and Elizabeth Stoel have completed the Somerville Topiary Farm out of used Christmas trees.
The Caterpillar's Garden:

"The Caterpillar's Garden," a recycled bags and wire installation by Marisa Dipaola is a grouping of luminously radiant mushrooms; artificial, of course. The oversized mushrooms are crammed with plastic bags and LED lights.
Still Growing:

Wen Xiong Lin offers a ’living public sculpture’ that satirically suggest how man has altered the eco-equations to an irreparable extent. Nature has to be dependent upon humans for survival.
