Once they were known for their elaborate courtship displays for the Hawaiian Islanders. Yeah, I am talking about those Hawaiian flies. But, now they have diminished to an alarming level. And this has catapulted 12 species of these rare flies to the list of 'Endangered Species'.

It is Tuesday, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service declared the protected status for these highly valued flies. Brent Plater, a staff attorney in the center's San Francisco office said,
