According to a report by National Geographic News, although the United Nations has provided an estimation of only about ten million sharks being harvested each year, some conservationists have put the number at closer to a hundred million!

If it is true, does this suggest that United Nations is trying to cover-up the magnitude of the crimes committed by the merciless, indiscriminate money-hankering food industries?

To add to the mystery of the business the shark-fin industry -- especially those concentrated in a few Asian trading centers -- is generally secretive and wary of any attempts for either regulating, or even investigating its practices.

To build in more suspicion, it has been found that most fisheries-management groups give little attention to sharks, considering them as bycatches given their low value per pound!
