Science fiction movies force us to slip into an imaginative world. They make us dream the impossible and make our jaws drop and eyes pop. It is practically impossible to embrace the ideas shown in such flicks, but there is a community of people who can fiddle with just anything. Artists are blessed with a magic wand that can convert even meaningless things into a beautiful piece of art. There are a few who have swapped or thrown away objects in art forms inspired by such Sci-Fi movies. Here, is a list of ten such eco-friendly creations that will make your eyes do a cartwheel in utter surprise.


1. Steampunk R2-D2
Bringing his inventive skills and creativity into action, AmoebaBoy has given the beloved Star Wars character R2-D2 a dash of steampunk. This UK-based artist, sculptor and animator has developed an amazing robot sculpture using recycled materials. Wooden coffee stirrers from a burger joint came together to make the boiler planks, while the dome uses the internal workings of a water meter. It must be hard to believe though, but this incredible steampunk was created in just two days.
2. Sci-Fi Movie Monsters

Monsters are being born from trash! Yes, you read it right. An artist is busy crafting famous movie legends (read monsters) from Sci-Fi movies. He has put thrash to good use and come up with metal sculptures that will make you slip in a state of awe. The designer has used different bike and car parts, like bearings, springs, gearboxes, pipes and clips. First of all, different materials are selected and then given the shape of a creature. These are further cleaned and welded together, which results in eco-friendly art forms. They include Predator 72cms, Predator 90cms, Alien 52cms, Predator 52cms and Predator 120cms.
3. Tron Armchair

If you are a great Tron fan, then the product in question will force you to jump from your seat. Dror Benshetrit from Studio Dror, New York has made limited edition armchairs that have a very strong reflection of the hi-tech movie Tron. The green creation makes good use of used rotomolded plastic and also fiberglass coupled with polyester resin. The Tron chair is handmade and come draped with eco-friendliness.
4. Alien Predators

Krittayakorn Chaijit, an artist from Thailand, is busy saving the earth from further damage. A lot of scrap metal is seen piling up every single day but nothing is done to bring it down. The artist has swapped this so-called junk into meaningful art in the form of arty sculptures. He has skillfully exploited redundant stuff like machines, metals and auto parts in his ‘Kreatworks’.
5. Transformers

People have a special liking for robots and of course the movie Transformer. A Chinese artist named Yang Junlin’s love for such things pushed him to create an army of robots from thrown away materials. He is the owner of a factory named, ‘Legend of Irons’ where all his creations are exhibited and sold. You will be surprised to know that he has till date created a whooping 1000 transformer robots. Wow! Waste materials like old auto parts, metal pieces and sheets of steel have been given an all new existence, thanks to the artist.
6. Ink Cartridges Sci-Fi Art

With the discovery of printers, print cartridges have become a common sight. They are (in 70% cases) dumped in landfills after the purpose is served. On an average 8 print cartridges are dumped every second in the US alone. This adds to the pollution levels and deterioraztes the environment further. Artist Faith Pearson vowed to save our beautiful surroundings and swapped these cartridges into pieces of stunning art. 7. AT-AT Imperial Walker

Sage Werbock’s love for Star Wars is evident from his creations. The artist has put redundant computer parts to good use through clever craftsmanship. He has crafted the AT-AT Imperial Walker, an iconic figure from the Star War movies, which will make crazy fans drool all over it. The eco-friendly sculpture weighs 15lb and is 18 inch tall. He has ingeniously used power supply boxes, power cords, floppy drive housing and recycled metal.
8. Sci-Fi Masks

Kids love wearing masks and running around the house. Clubbing this love with a Sci-Fi appeal are these masks crafted from different computer parts and electric scrap objects. Aliens and monsters always manage to impress us and children love to imitate these characters. The Millennium Falcon, the spacecraft in the Star Wars universe commanded by smuggler Han Solo comes with an eco-friendly twist this time. Filth Wizardry has cutely flipped kitchen scrap into a Wall-E robot. The colorful creation came to life by combining cereal boxes, empty yogurt cups, wrapping paper tubes, a bucket empty tape dispensers, and a plastic drink holder. It will act as an eco-friendly toy for tiny-tots and don’t expect it to help you with household work.
