BIG architects just recently let the world know about the completion of construction on the Danish Pavilion. Encouraging visitors to pedal and walk through it, the pavilion touts a rooftop garden that doubles as a parking for no less than 300 bicycles. Constructed in white painted steel, the structure remains cool as the excess heat is reflected back into the outer environment.
H.C. Andersen’s Little Mermaid sits itself next to a pool of water. Notably, ample daylight exposure is ensured via a punctured façade that is transparent enough to allow sunlight to pass through it. With the city bike, the harbor bath, playground settings, a picnic on the roof garden and much more, the Danish Pavilion is all set to receive visitors to the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
